Third Trimester RN Hands-On Ultrasound Workshop

This course was created specifically for Registered Nurses who need to perform limited third-trimester ultrasound exams. This course combines online lectures with live hands-on scanning technique.

The hands-on scanning session will occur at the following location:

The class runs from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and includes a 45-minute lunch break. Lunch will be provided. We begin the day with a brief review of the third trimester exam as well as a system overview. We then proceed to the limited third-trimester scan, which includes assessment of presentation, viability, and placental location. We then move into fluid assessment and the biophysical profile. Space is limited to 6 practitioners.

  • Discover common pathology and limitations of ultrasound
  • Perform a biophysical profile
  • Identify presentation and viability
  • Measure the amniotic fluid
  • Identify the cervix and placental location
  • Measure cervical length (optional)
